buw Hungary to invest EUR 10m at call centre in Pecs


(Hungarian News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Budapest, March 30, 2006 (MTI-ECONEWS) - Germany's buw Holding, a telemarketing and customer care company, plans to invest EUR 10m (HUF 2.540bn) at its call centre in Pecs, in southwest Hungary, in the next three years, creating 600-650 workplaces, Minister of Economic Affairs and Transportation Janos Koka announced on Thursday, after signing a contract for state subsidies related to the investment.



The details of the subsidy agreement will not be published until 60 days after the signing, in line with EU regulations.

Karsten Wulf told MTI that the company is renting one floor of a building in the city centre to operate a telephone exchange. It will rent a further two floors of the building by 2009. buw Holding set up its unit in Pecs in September, 2005, and currently employs 20 workers. The company decided on the location of the centre because of the large number of German speakers in the region. They also aimed to reach as many Hungarian companies as possible.


buw Holding, set up in 1993, employs more than 2,000 people at its bases in Germany an Pecs. Its clients include BMW, Deutsche Post, Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, Siemens and Cannon.
