IDG World Expo Expands Mobile Application Showcase for Macworld 2011; Expansion Will Include iPad Developers

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- On the heels of the highly successful Macworld 2010 event, IDG World Expo announced today that the Macworld Mobile Application Showcase area for iPhone (News - Alert), iPod touch and now iPad developers will double in size at Macworld 2011. IDG World Expo also announced that free expo hall registration for next year's event will open on Monday, February 22 for two weeks only.

"The Mobile Applications Showcase was an out-of-the-park success at Macworld 2010. The Pavilion sold out and developers loved meeting with overflow crowds of attendees," said Paul Kent, vice president and general manager, Macworld. "To accommodate the demand from returning participants, exhibitors on the waiting list and the anticipated interest from the new crop of iPad developers, we have decided to double the floor space allocated to Mobile Apps. We look forward to putting more customers and Mobile App developers together next year, and are very happy to welcome our incredible community of attendees to Macworld 2011 by offering free expo registration for the next two weeks." The Mobile Application Showcase, a special area of the show floor dedicated to new-to-market innovations by iPhone and iPod touch developers, debuted at Macworld 2010. The showcase was met with resounding success from vendors and exhibitors alike with over 100 app developers and enthusiastic crowds four to five people deep over the duration of the three-day expo. App developers who participated in the 2010 Mobile Application Showcase included Square, TomTom (News - Alert), FrolicWare, Peekeez, Mobclix, Beejive, Twicular, AppCubby, Scava and more.

IDG World Expo also announced that it will offer free expo hall pre-registration for a limited period for Macworld 2011. Attendees can register for free Macworld 2011 expo hall registration through Monday, March 8, at https://register.rcsreg.com/r2/macsf2011/ga/clear.html.

"The Mobile Applications Showcase was an incredible experience, so much so that I have already secured my space for 2011. It's a great value for mobile application developers to reach their key audience," said David Barnard of App Cubby, maker of the popular Gas Cubby iPhone app. "The Showcase was packed throughout the entire show and provided a great buzz area for people to meet and discuss iPhone and iPod Touch applications." Macworld 2011, the world's premiere event focused exclusively on the Apple (News - Alert) products platform, is scheduled to take place January 25 - 29, 2011, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Mobile Application Showcase spaces are now available for app developers.
