Overture Networks (News - Alert), a Carrier Ethernet solutions provider, has completed the deployment of its Ethernet technologies for Canadian Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC), Fibernetics Corp.

Fibernetics Corp. is both a CLEC and Internet Service Provider (ISP), providing advanced voice and data services at speeds ranging from 2 Mbits to 50 Mbits.

Officials with Overture Networks said that the deployment bolsters Fibernetics Business Services division, as it aggressively provisions the small- and medium-sized business (SMBs) market with Ethernet business services in direct competition against incumbent providers.

Company officials said that Fibernetics Business Services’ division has deployed the Overture Networks HN4000 and HN400 Ethernet over bonded copper platforms, providing the company with a strategic competitive edge in the SMB business services market.

“Overture Networks delivered the right solution at the right price at the right time in the market. Because of their Ethernet over copper technology, we’re now able to deliver highly competitive Ethernet service offerings and options to the underserved SMB market,” said Chris Lehman, vice president, business services, Fibernetics, in a statement.

Lehman said that many SMBs have the same rigorous communications needs as larger enterprises; however, these enterprise-level Ethernet services have been unavailable to them through other Canadian carriers.

“Overture has allowed us to fill that service gap,” he said.

Lehman said that historical data points out that SMBs are essential to the health and vitality of today’s economy, yet all too often, the big Canadian telecommunications companies have neglected this critical customer segment.

“Combining Fibernetics Business Services unique Digital PBX (News - Alert) offering with our Ethernet over Copper (ECo) solution through Overture Networks, we are able to reduce our customers’ monthly voice and data costs by up to 80 percent, providing significant value for our SMB customers,” he said.

Kevin Sheehan, president, Overture Networks said that Fibernetics is a rising star in Canadian telecommunications, and is providing highly desirable services to their customers via innovative, cost-effective alternatives to the legacy incumbent carriers.

“We are pleased to be a partner to Fibernetics and look forward to working with them as they continue to increase their presence and influence in the Canadian market,” said Sheehan.
