Redline Communications Group Inc., (Redline), a provider of secure wireless broadband products, announced that its 3.65 GHz RedMAX WiMAX (News - Alert) base station products have received full Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval to operate across the entire 50 MHz spectrum.

The FCC approval is necessary for all wireless equipments that have to be deployed in the US. With this approval, service providers will be able to broaden deployment of Redline-based services, according to a press release.

Redline's RedMAX, which received FCC approval to operate in 50 MHz spectrum, is the world's first WiMAX Forum (News - Alert) Certified wireless broadband access system. The solution comprises of base stations and subscriber units. It is tailored to enable wireless broadband access to information, wireless video surveillance, wireless data acquisition and wireless smart grid connectivity.

According to Redline, the company’s RedMAX solutions are used by service providers, governments, the oil and gas industry, utilities, and the military worldwide.

The RedMAX line operates in the 3.3GHz – 3.8 GHz. Recently, this line was launched for 3.65 GHz bands as well. The 3.65 GHz is reserved for telecom service providers as a 'lightly licensed' band throughout North America. This enables service providers to deliver competitive broadband wireless data service without incurring the high costs of spectrum licenses.

Powered by Redline's third generation radio, the RedMAX line has the capability to deliver the industry's highest capacity in Mbps, packets per second, and number of active subscribers, say officials with Redline.

In 2007, Redline's 3.65 GHz WiMAX products were the first to be approved for operation in the lower 25 MHz spectrum.

The latest approval by FCC (News - Alert) will enable Redline to operate in the upper 25 MHz spectrum as well. The FCC approved the solution after an evaluation process ensuring the company's compliance with the tighter restrictions for this additional spectrum.

Customers of Redline already utilizing RedMAX 3.65 products can download a free software upgrade. This upgrade will enable their radios to function across the complete 50MHz of spectrum as well.

"The FCC decision marks a significant move forward for Redline, and we are delighted to join a select group of companies who can operate across the full 50 MHz spectrum," said Rodney Cronin, director of product management at Redline. "Our telecom service provider customers can now take advantage of double the spectrum capacity, allowing them to deliver high-performance, flexible and reliable Redline-based solutions on a much broader scale," Cronin added.
