TelePacific Communications has acquired NextWeb, dba Covad (News - Alert) Wireless, a provider of fixed wireless broadband services in Nevada, California and the Chicago area. TelePacific is California’s largest provider of integrated data and voice telecommunications services to the small and medium-sized businesses in Nevada and California.

The acquisition has helped TelePacific gain a WiMAX (News - Alert)-featured wireless broadband network, a high bandwidth wireless network operating in licensed LMDS spectrum, and a licensed microwave backhaul network. These new networks will help the company to increase its product offerings. The acquisition is a part of TelePacific's strategy to invest in advanced technologies related to broadband transport. The company has added around 3,500 profitable broadband fixed wireless business customers in Nevada, California and suburban Chicago through the acquisition.

In a release, Dick Jalkut, president and CEO of TelePacific, said, "We are pleased to welcome Covad Wireless customers to the TelePacific family and look forward to introducing them to TelePacific's signature customer service The additional resources we gained through this acquisition—the fixed wireless network and experienced wireless team, have enhanced our ability to serve our customers. Each new acquisition has made us stronger and TelePacific is well-positioned to expand its market share."

With the acquisition, TelePacific will be able to provide its customers more choice of high-bandwidth data products having symmetrical upload and maximum download speed of 100 Mbps. The company will additionally offer special event Internet access and new redundancy options. Its customers will enjoy faster installations as these services will not be delivered via the incumbent local exchange carrier loops.

TelePacific Communications (News - Alert), founded in 1998, is the leading provider of telecommunication services across California and Nevada. The company has headquarters in Los Angeles and customer care centers in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Stockton. The company provides services like IP based integrated voice and data offerings, managed security and managed cloud services, private MPLS VPN networking solutions, dedicated Internet access, mobile services, data center services, and business continuity solutions.
