Aperto Networks has announced that China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec Corp.), an integrated energy and chemical company, has deployed its PacketMAX WiMAX (News - Alert) products to build a region-wide wireless broadband network in the Sichuan province of China.

China based SINOPEC develops and manages gas fields in the mountain area of Sichuan. In this region, safety is one of the most important considerations for the success of the operation. The company selected Apertos PacketMAX WiMAX solution to provide the mission critical communication infrastructure.

“Our application demands high availability and predictable performance by the communication system,” said Wu Weide, managing director of production management center at SINOPEC, adding that Aperto has worked closely with the company to design and deployment of this critical infrastructure.

Leveraging Aperto’s carrier-class QoS and comprehensive network management system, SINOPEC expects to support multiple services including integrated voice, data, and video applications.

Aperto officials said that their PacketMAX product family spans multiple frequencies and enables efficient frequency re-use and co-location via advanced synchronization technology.

Aperto’s PacketMAX product family is available at 2GHz, 3GHz, and 5GHz, offering flexible solutions for broadband wireless access and critical vertical applications. Additionally, PacketMAX also offers a network management platform with advanced features for real-time monitoring and control of all network elements.

Company officials said that the PacketMAX family consists of high performance, carrier-class base stations and a broad family of cost-effective subscriber units.

“This successful deployment once again validates the powerful capability and high reliability of our PacketMAX product family,” said Bill Waters, senior vice president of world-wide sales at Aperto.

Aperto Networks (News - Alert) is a subsidiary of BC-based Tranzeo Wireless Technologies. The company is a supplier of wireless broadband, mobile WiMAX and Enterprise VPN solutions using carrier-grade WiMAX Forum (News - Alert) Certified infrastructure equipment.

Earlier in March, Tranzeo Wireless Technologies entered into a definitive merger agreement with Aperto Networks and key Aperto shareholders. Aperto merged into a newly incorporated subsidiary of Tranzeo (News - Alert).
