Azimuth Systems (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of wireless channel emulators and broadband wireless test equipment, has announced that the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator will be used by Taiwan's Institute for Information Industry (III) for WiMAX (News - Alert) testing.

The Networks and Multimedia Institute (NMI), which is III's chief information and communication technology (ICT) research organization, will be using the ACE MX wireless channel emulator in its 2x2 bidirectional configuration, which is required for advanced testing of its WiMAX development and protocol analysis system.

Some of the important features of the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator like superior RF performance testing, ease-of-use, ease-of-configuration, and its scalability and flexibility, were the reason behind III's decision in purchasing the ACE MX MIMO channel emulator, the company said.

In the year 1979, III was incorporated as a Non-Government Organization (NGO) for supporting the development/applications of the information industry and information society in Taiwan.

NMI exploits core ICT technologies, digital content and domain know-how for developing innovative technologies, integrated systems, and advanced applications.

In a release, Wen-Chien Hung, director of Wireless Technology Center, III, said, "In order to provide the best WiMAX development and protocol analysis platform for Taiwan's manufacturing customers, we chose the best platform to supply the precision and accuracy we require. Azimuth's ACE MX wireless channel emulator provides automated testing and accurate results, reducing the product test confirmation time and enhancing the customer confidence level."

The ACE MX wireless channel emulator is a purpose-built, improved testing solution which is architected specially for meeting the demanding needs of Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based systems. Dedicated bi-directional channel modeling is also included in the ACE MX wireless channel emulator which can precisely copy real world wireless over-the-air conditions in both the downlink and uplink paths at the same time.

In a release, Pete Paglia (News - Alert), vice president of sales and business development at Azimuth Systems said, "WiMAX presents special testing requirements, particularly on a research level. III's adoption of the ACE MX MIMO wireless channel emulator validates Azimuth's leadership in not only product development, but in the research process that relies on our time-efficient, repeatable testing to ensure accurate results regardless of environment."
