Roundbox Takes Over Jacked Technology to Provide Enhanced Broadcasting Solutions

Roundbox (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of mobile broadcast software solutions, has announced the company has completed the acquisition of the technology and intellectual property of Jacked, Inc.’s that is an innovator in real-time, broadcast-synchronized data services. The company develops pioneering platform and companion applications, which seamlessly deliver rich, real-time Web content contextually synchronized to and complementing live broadcast television.
 
Combining Jacked’s patent-pending technology into its the Roundbox Mobile Broadcast Suite, the company aims at helping its broadcast and device customers in delivering enhanced TV viewing experiences.
 
According to Dennis Specht, co-founder and CEO of Roundbox, the acquisition of the Jacked product portfolio is key to company’s strategy to expand its momentum in mobile broadcast. Specht continued that by complementing broadcast video with information-rich, tightly synchronized interactive media, information, and applications, Jacked has revolutionized the way people will experience TV, and this acquisition will take Roundbox to the next level as the company develops new mobile broadcast offerings and drives the next generation of mobile entertainment and communication experiences.
 
The product portfolio of Jacked offers a customizable “second” screen experience to the viewers that provides them real-time access to Web-based news, local information, sporting events, and other video links and images. Usually, these entities are available elsewhere on the Internet but could not be pulled together in a single screen or coordinated with currently playing television till now.
 
More than 9,000 NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA football and basketball games are being supported by the Jacked platform for a number of broadcasters including NBC Sports and Olympics, CBS Television Station Group, Fox Sport’s Big Ten Network, Comcast’s (News - Alert) Regional Sports Network, Raycom, Tribune, the NBA and NHL. The Jacked product suite also includes search technology which helps the viewers choose their favorite programs from all genres of live and on-demand content including news, sports, drama, reality, event and lifestyle programming.

In January 2010, Roundbox, Inc. and TitanTV, an online software and information provider to the broadcasting industry had entered into a partnership to help their mutual customers deliver guide data services for mobile DTV.
