RAD Data Communications (News - Alert) announced on Tuesday that it has inked a partnership agreement with the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA). With the deal in place, NECA members that are looking to implement broadband and Ethernet applications now have access to RAD's full line of Carrier Ethernet, Mobile Backhaul and Multiservice Access solutions.

RAD Data Communications provides equipment and support which will help our members serve the growing Ethernet market for small business and wireless backhaul,” Sal Talluto, NECA’s director of network technologies and services planning, noted in a statement.

As a global access solutions provider, RAD boasts a portfolio of products that supports both legacy communication services and next generation network services, including Carrier Ethernet and Smart Grid applications. As a member of the Utilities Telecom Council and the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF (News - Alert)), RAD is one of the principal drivers of the creation and adoption of these technologies.

The company also builds hybrid solutions that "bridge the gap" between next-gen and legacy communication services. One such example of this is RAD's pseudowire technology, which allows operators to transport legacy TDM circuits over next-generation IP/Ethernet networks. This innovation provides many of today's mobile operators with a highly cost-effective way to backhaul cellular traffic from their towers.

RAD's pseudowire technology, as well as its Ethernet bridging technology, has been proven to minimize the substantial capital expenditures and operating expenses of an upgrade to an all-IP/Ethernet network.

“We’re excited to enter into this partnership with NECA; we recognize the important service that NECA provides for their membership and for the communications industry overall,” added RAD President, Uri Zilberman. “With RAD solutions deployed in service provider and enterprise networks across the U.S. and the globe, we have developed a keen understanding of operator requirements and how to help organizations translate those requirements into profitability.”
