Sequans to Demonstrate LTE Chip Technology at Mobile World Congress

Sequans Communications—4G chipmaker, supplying LTE and WiMAX—announced that it is going to participate in the upcoming Mobile World Congress in a big way. At the event, the company will demonstrate the capabilities of its LTE chip technology.

The various ways of the company’s participation in LTE ecosystem will be demonstrated in several places at Mobile World Congress (News - Alert). The demonstrations with Alcatel-Lucent, ZTE, and Motorola will be held onsite at Mobile World Congress in stands 7A96, 8C141, and 8A28, respectively, and the demonstration with China Mobile (News - Alert) will take place offsite at the LTE TDD-FDD International Summit.

In a press release, Sequans announced that the demonstrations will be made with Alcatel-Lucent, ZTE (News - Alert), Motorola, and China Mobile.  The visitors are expected to get to see Sequans-powered LTE USB dongles and netbooks working in a live network delivering high throughput services such as high definition video. The company is going to use Sequans’ SQN3000 series LTE technology in the demonstration. Chips in the series are 3GPP R8 compliant, support up to 100 Mbps throughput, 10 and 20 MHz channel sizes, and band classes 38, 40, and 41, the company informed.

“Our numerous LTE technology demonstrations with industry leaders at Mobile World Congress show the breadth of our interoperability achievements and our continued progress in advancing LTE technology. We are grateful for the collaboration of our LTE partners as we focus on readying LTE technology for commercial deployment,” sawid Sequans CEO Georges Karam, said in a statement.

Sequans’ location at Mobile World Congress is hall 2, stand 2A116. According to latest information, Sequans will also collaborate with Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Networks and Huawei on LTE interoperability.

Last year in November, Sequans forged a partnership with Taiwan’s Gemtek, a manufacturer of broadband wireless solutions to speed new LTE consumer devices to market. Gemtek (News - Alert) is building several devices based on Sequans’ LTE UE chip, including a compact USB dongle and a desktop CPE.
