Cavium Networks announced that it will be demonstrating multiple reference designs using the OCTEON multi-core MIPS64 processors at Interop (News - Alert) along with six of its ecosystem partners. Partner companies support Cavium processors by providing operating systems, tool support, reference designs and other services.
Cavium processors benefit OEMs and ODMs which develop routers, switches, application delivery switches, WLAN gateways, broadband home routers, intelligent network adaptors, 3G, WiMAX, LTE (News - Alert) wireless base stations and gateways, video conferencing systems and networked high-definition display systems.
The company proposes to showcase the OCTEON family of Multicore MIPS64 processors with 1 to 32 cores, the ECONA ARM family of connected home and office processors, the PureVu family of H.264 Video processors, the NITROX family of security processors and the recently announced 10G Intelligent Network Adaptors.
Its portfolio of products includes integrated, software-compatible processors which range in performance from 10 Mbps to 20 Gbps. These processors enable secure, intelligent functionality in enterprise, data center, broadband/consumer, access and service provider equipment. The integrated semiconductor products enable intelligent processing in networking, communications, storage, wireless, video and security applications.
The more than 100 partner companies of Cavium provide operating systems, software applications, middleware, advanced multicore development tools and hardware in ready-to-use form factors like broadband gateways, 1U appliances, ATCA, AMC and custom systems.
Advantech, one of the six partner companies taking part in Interop, will be displaying its OCTEON processor based networking and wireless appliance systems. D2 Technologies (News - Alert), another partner will showcase a fully integrated VoIP and rich multi-media communications software solution which runs on Cavium’s OCTEON and ECONA based processors.
GE Fanuc will display multiple OCTEON Plus based products and also the 10 Gbit Ethernet PCI-Express WANic 56511 Packet Processor and dual OCTEON Plus AdvancedTCA (News - Alert) Packet Processor blade with RTM.
Mentor Graphics will demonstrate its Majic mulitcore development tools and NetLogic (News - Alert) Microsystems its 20Gbps joint reference design using NetLogic’s Knowledge Based Processors and Cavium’s OCTEON Multicore MIPS64 processors. QNX will show its operating system which exhibits linear performance scaling with increase in number of cores.
