Saguna Networks, a provider of mobile content delivery solution or “mCDN,” has announced partnership with Alvarion, a provider of WiMAX (News - Alert) and wireless broadband solutions worldwide, to add its CODS solution into Alvarion’s WiMAX portfolio.

Offering a new breed of proxy caching solutions for mobile network and WiMAX network operators, Saguna provides them a viable business model for delivery of high quality, rich content over the networks to the masses.

The mCDN solution slashes content transport cost by approximately 80 percent, while creating a new standard in user experience and service delivery, according to company officials.

Saguna's CODS is a carrier grade system, providing content caching and acceleration designed to meet the growing demand of content over WiMAX networks. The system nodes are located within the Mobile Core Network and the Mobile RAN.

The system is totally transparent to all network layers (transport, mobility, service, ) and to the terminal devices, performs caching and scheduling decisions based on the type of data and the content flowing through the network, consequently adding “Content Awareness” to the network, the company said.

As a result, CODS essentially reduces the need for backhaul capacity increase, as well as improves cell-utilization and user-experience.

The addition of Saguna's solution into Alvarion's (News - Alert) industry leading WiMAX product-portfolio provides new capabilities to existing and new customers, the company said.

“Alvarion is committed to bring new innovation to its customers through its partner solutions based on its OPEN (News - Alert) WiMAX strategy,” said Mohammad Shakouri, corporate vice president, Innovation and Marketing of Alvarion, said in a statement. “Saguna Networks' innovative mobile CDN solution provides good improvement to network performance in certain deployment scenarios.”

The partnership with Alvarion gives Saguna access to the market via a leading vendor- thanks to Alvarion’s open platform technology that allowed easy integration path with their products.

Uzi Breier, chairman of Saguna, said, “The ever growing demand for reach-content over broadband networks drives innovation in network technology throughout our industry. This partnership is bound to yield an impressive product and superior service-offing to the WiMAX market.”
