Motorola (News - Alert) has forged strategic alliance with Eden Rock Communications (News - Alert). The small WiMAX operators have some real reason to be happy with the new alliance. The Motorokla-Eden rock initiative will empower these operators compete with their larger counterparts.
Through a recent press release The Networks business of Motorola, Inc. announced that it has selected Eden Rock Communications to serve as a system integrator for delivering Motorola's WiMAX (News - Alert) end-to-end low teledensity solutions.
Eden Rock Communications is a leading innovator of 4G wireless Self Organizing Network solutions. According to Eden Rock, its Eden-NET (News - Alert) Multi-Node Radio Resource Controller product can provide substantial performance gains through the advanced scheduling of radio resources among multiple neighboring wireless access nodes for 4G network deployments. Additionally, Eden Rock also provides high-value strategic professional services to 4G operators, OEM's, and ODM's.
Under the agreement, Eden Rock will provide system engineering services for the E2E network, integrate and test the E2E network and develop tools along with methods and procedures for the E2E WiMAX network. Eden Rock will host a fully integrated testing site for the E2E network – open to current and potential customers at its labs in Saltillo, Mexico.
The Motorola low teledensity WiMAX solution is just perfect for the smaller WiMAX operators. According to Motorola, the operators servicing smaller demographic areas of coverage or lower ARPU options can deploy Motorola low teledensity WiMAX solution and enjoy greater cost savings and higher margins per subscriber. The alliance between Motorola and Eden Rock will enable the small operators achieve a competitive edge over their larger competitors by helping them create their own 'virtual 4G technology team.'

According to the industry watchers, the combination of Motorola’s WiMAX infrastructure and Eden Rock’s E2E technology provides just the right infrastructure to the community of small WiMAX operators. According to Motorola, this initiative is expected to give a boost to these small operators, who are currently pursuing challenging business environments.
