Extreme and Westcon Extend Distribution Agreement to Italy

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Extreme Networks and Westcon Group have extended their distribution agreement to Italy.

Westcon Group (News - Alert) is already one of Extreme Networks leading distributors in Europe and specializes in convergence and award-winning global solutions program infrastructure. The company launched its Westcon Convergence (News - Alert) business in Italy in November 2008, and is well-positioned to help Extreme Networks become more profitable in the region.

The extension of the agreement will allow Extreme Networks (News - Alert) to extend its channel presence in Italy by building on a new channel program launched last year. The company has decided to adopt a multi-vendor, collaborative approach and hopes it will take its traditional channel relationships to the next level.

Alberto Braghieri, channel manager at Extreme Networks Italia, explained that their company aims to increase its market share in Italy by working closely with its partners. Thus in early 2008, they invested in the Channel, which focused on establishing a restricted but highly qualified group of Channel Partners.

Braghieri emphasized that their choosing Westcon Convergence represents a significant step towards achieving this objective.

Westcon Convergence also expects this agreement to be beneficial, according to David Grant, vice president, Westcon Convergence. He noted that the successful deployment of converged solutions depends on a resilient, scalable and feature rich LAN infrastructure, and Extreme Networks delivers this on all counts.

Commenting on the announcement, Laurent Bourgninaud, EMEA channel director for Extreme Networks, said that Westcon’s skills around IP convergence bring a strong differentiator and high level of added value to the Channel.

He expects this will benefit all Extreme Networks partners who are investing in Convergence, Data Centers and high performance solutions.

Extreme Network notes Sandro Bordato, CEO of Netindus, which is keen on strengthening its technical and business relationship with their company.

“As clearly highlighted by its name, Netindus is strongly focused on devising and marketing network solutions to its customer base. We expect this new partnership to be very successful in the Italian market.”
