BVS Yellowfin WiMAX Test Receiver Demoed in New Jersey

Recently GoingWimax drove out to BVS’s headquarters in New Jersey, where theywereshown the demo of the BVS Yellowfin Wimax Test Receiver.

According to the demo, the tool can measure and display channel frequency response of the preamble, the RF multipath of the preamble. In addition to these and many other of the standard WiMAX (News - Alert) testing features you’d expect on such a product, company officials say it’s also set up with a 12-channel GPS test receiver, and also has features for radio spectrum analysis.

Company officials say these instruments are hand-calibrated.

Earlier this month TMC’s (News - Alert) Anil Sharma reported that BerkeleyVaritronicsSystems, which sells WiMAX testing and security products to the domestic and international wireless telecommunications industry, would exhibit its products at India Telecom 2010 in New Delhi earlier this month.

The India Telecom Conference has become the largest annual technology event of the Indian Telecom sector. Officials with BVS said that the company exhibited a family of wireless products that feature “a range of applications that address India’s rapidly growing mobile market.”

Among receivers, the company showcased the YellowFin WiMax test receiver, which includes 802.16d Fixed and LTE (News - Alert) models to complement the original 802.16e Mobile. It offers frequency analysis, spectrum analysis, multipath, CINR, and interference detection.

Accordingto TMC’s Stefanie Mosca, in October Berkeley Varitronics Systems (News - Alert) announced the release of their 4G LTE YellowFin analyzer. The LTE YellowFin will allow field engineers to measure the RF integrity with advanced measurements such as Received Signal Strength Indicator “RSSI”, Carrier to Interference plus Noise Ratio “CINR” and Multipath, along with demodulating the LTE physical layer.

The test tool also has full spectrum analysis capabilities in two available models covering 2.0-5.9 GHz or 700-2.0 GHz. This allows the RF engineers to verify that the environment has minimal interference before fully deploying the wireless infrastructure.
