Verizon's 4G LTE Network is the Fastest in the Country

Every major mobile service provider claims to offer the fastest 4G network in the country. And so, to see what data service provider really is the best, PC Magazine decided to do some real hands-on testing. Consequently, the magazine reporters undertook the challenge of testing major mobile phone carriers’ data speed.

As reported by Yahoo! News, the test covered 21 cities and every county in-between. Data delivered by AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and and MetroPCS was then collected and analyzed for speed. Once all of the data was collected and tested for speed, Verizon came out as the clear winner, wrote Yahoo! News reporter Tecca. In fact, according to PCMagazine.com study, Verizon’s 4G network speed was more than quadruple better than the competitors offerings in majority of the areas were these tests were conducted, wrote Tecca.

In reality, to accurately measure the data speeds, PCMagazine sent 2 cars packed with equipment on a cross-country trip, tweeting along the way. These tests were conducted on the latest mobile phones offered by every carrier, all running Android 2.2 and a specialized application written by Sensorly that simulates surfing the web, VoIP, and video calls, according to Yahoo! News report. Because the test was primarily aimed at  data speed, features like voice quality or dropped calls were not part of this measurement, wrote Tecca.

The reporter said the service provider was pleased with the outcome of the PCMagazine test. And now has the hard data to back its claim that Verizon 4G network is the fastest in the country. However, to those new customers planning to subscribe to Verizon’s unlimited data plan, Tecca cautions that the service provider is planning to terminate this plan on July 7th. Instead of unlimited data plan, Verizon will be offering tiered data service that may end up costing more, depending on data usage, wrote Tecca.
