U.S. Cellular Unveils New 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot

Today, U.S. Cellular revealed that it will be putting a little extra life in its 4G LTE lineup with the addition of a new mobile hotspot, the Samsung SCH-LC11.

The SCH-LC11 will allow for up to five Wi-Fi capable devices at once to utilize the hotspot and once the hotspot itself is hooked into a 4G LTE network, it will provide impressive speeds said to be 10 times faster than those of 3G. Geared toward most anyone who needs high-speed Internet access either at home or away, yet doesn't want or otherwise can't access Wi-Fi signals, the hotspot is sufficiently portable to fit in a pocket, yet also provides the multiple-device flexibility that many want.

It can allow for things like impromptu group meetings for businesses, especially those involving multiple travelers who need to easily exchange files, college students wanting a fast study session or other operations including file swapping in more remote locations or to take the edge off on long family trips by providing easy access to entertainment according to individual tastes.

The SCH-LC11 is expected to be in U.S. Cellular stores by May 21, with a price of $49.99 following a $50 mail-in rebate. Those interested in purchasing the device will need to be in those select markets where U.S. Cellular offers 4G LTE access or for those that will be covered by the end of 2012, so the hotspot likely will not be available in every market.

Still, though, it's good to see vendors like U.S. Cellular take an active interest in providing more tools to take advantage of 4G coverage. Though having five devices on a connection at once seems like a sure recipe to ensure users slam into their bandwidth caps in the quickest fashion possible, it still has plenty of potential uses and advantages to make this worthwhile for many users. And for those interested, the company also offers plenty of distinct advantages in its own right including overage protection services, free battery swap programs, and a points-based reward program that rewards users for doing those things that would ordinarily be brushed aside with a scoff of mere expectation at other service providers like timely bill paying, adding a line, or referring friends and family members to the service.

And with U.S. Cellular's 4G LTE network in rapid expansion, chances are those who want to use the service will be able to do so, and sooner than they may expect.
