Tellabs Partners with Agile Networks for Broadband, Faster Networks

All over the world, mobile operators face an ever increasing user demand for broadband. Along with competitive service pricing, faster 3G networks force smartphones and connected laptops to integrate for the mobile broadband business. Even for first responders, a well-functioning network is critical.

Recently, Tellabs partnered with Agile Networks to build a state-of-the-art broadband infrastructure that supports emergency and other vital communication services in Ohio. This partnership is expected to provide the state and its municipalities with high-speed broadband coverage.

Tellabs will make use of its 8600 Managed Edge System to execute this project. This solution from Tellabs optimizes the customer’s access transport network as he/she adds mobile data capabilities. Apart from network convergence, the system supports all technologies and media needed in 2G, 3G, 4G, LTE and LTE-Advanced evolution – TDM, ATM, FR and IP/MPLS.

Important features of the new network include efficient cost-savings through the elimination of leased T1 lines to help taxpayers save money; and crucial redundancy to provide back-up communication channels in case of interruptions.

“The reliability, reach and capacity of this network will provide a high-speed backbone for economic development and innovation, such as smart fields for oil and gas monitoring," said Dan Kelly, executive vice president, global products at Tellabs. "The network will help Ohio maintain its existing services while adding new offerings such as IP VPN and MPLS.”

The company recently signed a partnership agreement to offer Tellabs certified training and lab services to the Middle East. Financial details of the partnership agreement were not disclosed. Local service providers can access a combination of premium products and training with this partnership. A wider range of Tellabs-certified training and lab services will be available in the Middle East.
