BitzerMobile Boosts BYOD

By now, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is something of a big deal. Employees all have their own tablets or smartphones that they swear by, and can’t imagine using anything else for work. And while the cost savings of not needing to provide company devices can be appealing, BYOD raises a great deal of security issues and interoperability concerns. How can employees receive the same data and do the same work on their various devices of choice?

The answer is brought to you by BitzerMobile, which provides enterprise mobility for employees with their own devices. It offers a secure connection for mobile users, kept separate from personal data, and regulated by a remote administrator. Administrators can restrict access by time or geography, even remotely remove company data, or track devices when they’re lost.

BitzerMobile’s software works on a subscription-based model. Once the software is installed, employees can download an app for their mobile devices. Administrators then use intuitive data and access control, integrated with LDAP and native support, to manage the various devices.

The company data on each device is kept in a secure container on the device, protected with various security features such as windows SSO and encrypted. This keeps the data both safe and separate from personal applications, tools, and notes, so that users can continue to use their devices as they please on their own time, while having full access to the company data on company time.

I saw the administrative controls, and it really is as simple as advertised. Each device can be managed individually as needed, with intuitive menu controls that make handling the controls easy. While its effectiveness might vary depending on the size of the company and its BYOD policy, for those with several mobile employees to manage, it can certainly prove a useful tool.
