Symmetry Electronics Expands Distribution Agreement with Denmark's RTX

Symmetry Electronics is announcing the expansion of its distribution agreement with Danish company RTX to now include the RTX RF test chambers/equipment, development/evaluation tools and ultra low power Wi-Fi modules based on an ARM Energy Micro Gecko MCU and Qualcomm Atheros AR4100 Wi-Fi SiP.

Symmetry Electronics is a supplier-authorized, global distributor specializing in the distribution of wireless, video, and embedded semiconductor products. RTX focuses on the development and production of advanced wireless solutions including DECT, VoIP, Wi-Fi, and other RF standards. The RTX product line includes robust RF testing chambers and equipment, as well as development and evaluation tools for its RTX4100 802.11 b/g/n ultra-low power Wi-Fi module.

According to Symmetry, it has chosen to expand the distribution agreement because the RTX4100 Wi-Fi Module is ideal to develop low power solutions because of its full security package, high efficiency and low power, which is achieved through the use of the Energy Micro Gecko MCU and Qualcomm Atheros AR4100 Wi-Fi SiP. Using the RTX4100, applications can run directly on the module without requiring an external host processor, allowing rapid application development of low power sensor, automation, and smart metering solutions.

“In the past, RTX has been very successful in helping Symmetry support wireless customers,” said Gil Zaharoni, CEO of Symmetry Electronics, in a press release. “The addition of RF testing equipment and the RTX partnerships with Qualcomm Atheros and Energy Micro will allow us to advance our design support and increase our presence in markets requiring very low power (Wi-Fi enabled) devices,” he added.

RTX RF test platforms support a range of different RF tests and can be used for high throughput manufacturing applications or serve as a development or service tool for DECT/DECT 6.0/CAT-iq/Japan DECT standards. The platforms can be setup to test on either a portable part (such as a portable DECT device, handset or headset) or a fixed part (such as a base station, home gateway, USB DECT dongle) and is highly efficient due to the concurrent measurement capability.
