Suitable Low-Cost Network for Next Generation

LSI Corporation recently announced its collaboration with Microsemi Corporation (MSCC) to reduce the costs of mobile backhaul. This collaboration will also support the OEMs network through higher performance and interoperability, which is crucial in developing better network services.

The collaboration between LSI and Microsemi targets performance and determinism benefits, which will lower operating costs while simultaneously improving customer service.

Costs have been skyrocketing in recent years due to the high demand for mobile services. This demand has led to deployment of Ethernet-based backhaul as an effective method for dealing with network traffic.

Additionally, the collaboration aims at developing a network that will be suitable for the next generation and in line with this Ethernet based backhaul. The LSI product family has integrated other features such as transport, control and switching. These are key features that lower costs and simplify system creation and deployment.

In this context, the addition of Microsemi features to LSI is timely because it introduces a solution for Ethernet backhaul.

"The move to Ethernet backhaul is attractive both for its ability to scale in addition to being cost-effective. Adding Microsemi's proven PTP technology to the Axxia platform creates a strong solution for Ethernet backhaul,” stated Joe Byrne, an industry analyst withThe Linley Group.

LSI Corporation is a networking company that designs semi-conductors and software. LSI accelerates the storage of data, mobile networking and client computing. The LSI technology is based on intelligence that develops performance in collaboration with its partners.

Microsemi offers a semi-conductor portfolio and system solutions in communications, defense and security. The company offers a variety of products that facilitate networking and communications systems.
