Gone are the days when smartphones and social media were just for the younger generation. Now, seniors are often as addicted to tech as any of the generations that followed them.
Recognizing this, cell phone service provider Sprint is now offering an Active Senior ID pack for seniors who are Android users. The Active Senior ID pack offers seniors the opportunity to download 20 useful, senior-friendly apps in one, simple tap, saving them the time of searching through the hundreds of thousands of available apps.
The one-touch download will bring seniors a wide variety of helpful programs, from informational apps to safety apps to social apps. Some of the most important apps included on the download are: AARP, WebMD, MedsTimer – an app that helps keep track of medications – ICE (In Case of Emergency), Fall Detector and Wireless CapTel.

Not all the applications are health-related or serious, though; for fun, the download comes with Audible for listening to audio books, Crossword Light for playing crosswords, and Facebook for staying in touch with family, among other entertainment and social programs.
Sprint’s vice president of Product Platforms and Services, Kevin McGinnis, sees this Active Senior ID pack as a way that they, as a socially responsible company, can cater to their diverse customer base; “As a socially responsible company, we strive to offer a selection of phones and services that meet the needs of all of our customers, which is why we’re pleased to offer the Active Senior ID pack to our senior customers who can benefit from useful applications conveniently pre-packaged by Sprint,” he said.
AARP has commended Sprint on the Active Senior ID Pack, which they describe as having been “thoughtfully pieced together.” For any senior Sprint users, this 20-app download pack will no doubt be a ubiquitous part of any Android purchase.
