Sandvine Receives $2M Follow-On Order from Africa

A major provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, Sandvine, recently announced that it has received a $2-million follow-on order in Network Policy Control products from a 3G mobile operator in Africa.

This customer purchased Sandvine’s Policy Traffic Switch, Network Analytics, Usage Management and Fairshare Traffic Management products. Since 2009, the operator has been a Sandvine customer and is a subsidiary of a multinational telecommunications organization.

Across the continent, Sandvine’s Internet Phenomena indicates that African smartphone penetration has grown to 20 percent, and Facebook and YouTube account for more than 10 percent of mobile data usage.

Mobile operators are facing a growing challenge to provide a consistent experience and roll out services fast enough to satisfy the appetite of their new data subscribers. For both pre-paid and post-paid data, Sandvine’s Usage Management 4.2 product, provideing reduced lag between capital spend and service revenue, enables new services and is built to plug-and-play with 3GPP standards.
