Sybase 365 Has Been Selected by Globe to Provide Users with Enriched Mobile Experience

Earlier this week, Sybase 365, the mobile services arm of SAP AG and global leader in mobile interconnection services and mobile commerce solutions, jointly announced with the Philippines' leading mobile operator, Globe Telecom (Globe), that Globe has been enabled to launch its first LTE roaming service with China Mobile Hong Kong Company Limited (CMHK), the first operator that Globe has connected to commercially.

To roll-out its LTE Roaming connectivity globally, Globe has selected Sybase 365 as its strategic partner. Enabling Globe to offer global roaming to its LTE subscribers, Sybase 365 offers LTE Roaming on its Sybase® IPX 365™ (IP Exchange) network, among one of several innovative services.

"As more LTE networks are launched, the need for interoperability between mobile services is becoming an increasingly critical requirement, both by businesses and subscribers. We are excited to kick-off our commercial LTE roaming services via the Sybase IPX 365 network," said Rizza Maniego-Eala, Group Head for International Business, Globe Telecom.

He added that by providing services and solutions across the one IP connection, Globe is leveraging the Sybase IPX 365 capability to run multiple international services thereby giving its subscribers a more enriched mobile experience. Although LTE is the fastest developing mobile system technology, the little or no support for roaming is definitely one of the biggest challenges it faces in achieving its full potential.

To address this challenge, Sybase 365 Diameter Hubbing for LTE Roaming provides operators the capability to offer connectivity to their LTE subscribers who roam to other compatible LTE networks around the world. It allows the subscriber to enjoy a consistently fast user experience, as if at home in the Globe network.

Sean Lee, Director and Chief Executive Officer, China Mobile Hong Kong concluded that from around the world, in order to provide the best user experience for LTE roamers tapped onto the CMHK network, its partnerships with other mobile operators extend and enrich its network's capability.
