Maxim and RadioPulse Collaborate on Development, Marketing of ZigBee

Two U.S.-based companies, Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. and Radio Pulse, have come together to develop and market ZigBee Communication Software.

The companies will be developing ZigBee software, an integrated system on chips (SoC), and smart transceivers, and then plan to jointly market it. The partnership is already in the process of developing and marketing highly integrated smart grid solutions.

Maxim Integrated Products excels in putting analog together in a way that ensures its customers have the advantage. In Fiscal 2012, Matrix Integrated Products reported revenue of $2.4 billion.

RadioPulse, a "Being Wireless" technology solution provider, touts leading wireless network technology and is changing the game by providing ZigBee-based total solutions for a broad range of applications.

Maxim smart grid products business director, Kris Ardis, said, "Maxim supports a variety of standards-based communication solutions including ZigBee. By collaborating with RadioPulse on our Zeus platform, we ensure that customers have innovative, highly integrated, and very secure smart grid solutions."

"Customers love Maxim's metrology and security solutions, and we have a superb solution that matches Maxim's innovative culture," said Dr. Sungho Wang, CEO at RadioPulse.

The coming together of both companies is very advantageous to the industry. The synergy between Maxim’s smart, secure IC solutions and RadioPulse wireless ZigBee software enables quick implementation, thus saving time, board space and implementation costs for customers

A report recently acquired by HIS from IMS research stated, "In the past three years, almost 60 million smart meters have been deployed–with almost 20 million including a 'HAN gateway' (home area network - typically ZigBee) to enable connectivity between the backhaul AMI (typically powerline or RF mesh) and in-home devices, such as in-home displays (IHD).”

Maxim’s current grid solutions will benefit from the collaboration including SoC, Zeus its smart meter.

RadioPulse will be offering ZigBee-based total solutions for a broad range of applications. RadioPulse ZigBee SoCs are now available for use with Maxim's smart grid products.
