Dutch Company Elephant Talk Signs SDN Contract in Latin American Market

Elephant Talk is a provider of enterprise solutions for managing network, infrastructure, and electronic fraud within telecommunications and financial services industries. Having recently announced the acquisition of Telnicity’s, a U.S. MVNE/MVNO based in Oklahoma, assets as part of a plan to enter the U.S. market, Elephant Talk revealed that it had signed a contract to launch its Software Defined Network (SDN) in Latin America.

Elephant Talk's chairman and CEO, Steven van der Velden expressed that, “the Latin American mobile telecom market has been a focus for Elephant Talk” and that he was proud that Elephant Talk had been awarded a multiyear contract.

The new SDN platform can support 10 million SIMS, and Elephant Talk expects that around one million current mobile customers will have switched to the SDN by the middle of this year. Subscribers to Elephant Talk's SDN will provide recurring revenue to the company via their monthly subscription to the proprietary SDN. The Software Define Network was chosen as the platform for this Latin American market because SDNs are able to efficiently manage the rising demands of mobile providers, from small networks to networks with millions of SIMs.

Elephant Talk further responded to the successful contract by releasing its fourth quarter and preliminary results for 2012. The company anticipates making its full 2012 figures available in March. Van der Velden also noted that he was “pleased” with Elephant Talk's preliminary numbers from the last quarter.
