AVG Technologies Releases AVG TuneUp for Android

AVG Technologies yesterday released a new product for Android called AVG TuneUp for Android. Available free for use with both smartphones and tablets, this app is meant to help users get improved performance from their devices.

AVG TuneUp for Android accomplishes this by combining several essential tools, namely a task killer, battery saver and storage space manager, as well as a data usage monitor. While most or all of these functions are available as part of Android as of version 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, AVG's app promises a level of fine tuning that will allow devices to run as smoothly as possible. It also puts all of its important system tools into one convenient place for easier use.

“Smartphones and tablets are increasingly integral to our business and social lives. Being able to reply to email, edit documents, search the Web and connect with our friends while on the move is something that many of us take for granted,” said Yuval Ben-Itzhak, chief technology officer at AVG Technologies, in a statement.

“Given this, it can be incredibly frustrating when your device runs out of battery suddenly or when multiple applications are leading to a sluggish user experience. AVG TuneUp for Android offers a range of easy to use smart tools that work together to ensure that your Android device can keep up with your busy schedule,” he added.

AVG TuneUp for Android builds upon AVG's existing mobile presence, which largely consists of security programs that help mobile users eliminate the risk of malware and viruses — an issue that is increasingly pressing for Android users, according to a recent NQ Mobile study. However, AVG also offers security applications for other mobile operating systems, including Windows Phone 8.

AVG TuneUp for Android is available now from the Google Play app market and has so far garnered mostly positive user reviews.
