Ready Wireless Delivers Real-Time Smartphone Data Metering

Smartphone and tablet computer users are well aware of the pain of finding that they’ve gone over their mobile data plan when their bill is due. But one network provider is changing that.

Ready Wireless, a MVNE (Mobile Virtual Network Enabler) that powers devices, services and systems on a multi-carrier wireless platform, released the availability of real-time data metering for smartphones for its Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO).

Through Telespree and its customers, Ready Wireless is breaking ground on how mobile users user their devices.

This does not affect all cell phone carriers. Telespree, the company partnering with Ready Wireless, services companies such as Virgin Wireless, Sprint and Clearwire. Telespree provides Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for network providers.

"As mobile data usage soars, Ready Wireless is ensuring our MVNO partners can confidently grow their data product offerings knowing their usage is being monitored and controlled," said Dennis Henderson, CEO and cofounder of Ready Wireless. "The Telespree Active Session Monitoring service improves the accuracy and cost-effectiveness of our partners' solutions."

The Web is providing more content and information to mobile users, as Yahoo!’s Recent statistics indicate. Video content, such as TV shows, movies and news reports, are being broadcast across the network to be viewed on phones and tablet computers. Users of these devices have an ever growing appetite for digital content. Metering usage goes a long way for a user to track what s/he’s using, so that they’re not surprised with high monthly bills.

Instead, users are redirected to a webpage when their data plans expire. From this site, they’re given instructions to purchase additional data.

For providers, it means the ability to monitor and manage network usage – all in real time.
