From April 19-21, the National Kitchen & Bath Association was celebrating its 50th anniversary. During this 2013 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in New Orleans, First Watch Security, an operating division of Belwith Products, LLC – which has, for decades, been designing, manufacturing and delivering security products for home and commercial use – unveiled its Smart Deadbolt, a lock & lever solution, with Bluetooth 4.0 Technology for Keyless Smartphone Entry.
The Smart Deadbolt, with its native integration of Bluetooth 4.0 and unique Smart Touch feature, allows smartphone users to operate the deadbolt with the touch of a button, without it being activated by a key.
It’s something that is possible when one pairs a smartphone with the SecuRemote device (via the SecuRemote BLE App) by tapping the icons to unlock or lock it.
SecuRemote Technology uses Bluetooth technology and proprietary security software. It is incorporated into mortise locksets and deadbolts. With it, one has the ability to change the settings of the Smart Deadbolt and setup to add/delete users who can operate the device.
It permits authorized users to wirelessly communicate with the lock/lever device to remotely control the door lock status, and ensure it is locked or unlocked, directly with a smartphone. The mechanism utilizes 128-bit encryption to control access to entry doors, garage doors and electronic gates within a 100-foot distance – all thanks to Bluetooth technology.
With easy preparations and setup, the First Watch Security Smart Touch Deadbolt Lock/Unlock product offers a complete distinctive lock solution in a single package, reportedly compatible with most standard door knobs, gate latches and garage entry doors.
In essence, without time lost fumbling to find the right key, an iPhone, Android or Blackberry smartphone that requires installation of the SecuRemote BLE App can be a more user-friendly alternative, to trigger a home lock locking system and/or function as a much faster garage door opener.
A keyless deadbolt lock can be a convenient way to enter a home, as well as manage and/or secure it. The needed components to make this keyless smartphone entry process work for either an existing door or garage door system consists of the SecuRemote Device, the smartphone and the FREE app (which must be downloaded). The benefit of the Smart Deadbolt and SecuRemote Technology is that offers the convenience, control and security of a home, and can ultimately deliver the elemental communication, authentication and functionality to make it lock or unlocked when needed – with just a few simple pushes of a button.
To find out more about the Smart Touch Deadbolt device, available on the market very soon, customers can go to either the First Watch Security or Belwith Products website for details.
