Xamarin Announces Mobile App Developer Test Cloud

Cloud based services are still taking off in a variety of different industries. Xamarin has announced a cloud based service that is geared specifically towards allowing mobile app testing and development. Companies desiring to put together applications for a wide variety of platforms will be able to do so in collaboration with other developers who might be hundreds or thousands of miles away.

The Xamarin Test Cloud is an automated user interface testing service that allows mobile developers to test their apps on literally hundreds of different mobile devices, all from one central location. The service allows testing that would normally be incredibly time consuming and costly to be carried out in a far more controlled and cost controlled environment. Developers are also able to avoid device fragmentation by testing their applications on dozens of non-jailbroken devices in a quick and timely manner.

"At every step of the way, our mission is to make building mobile apps fast, easy and fun for developers. Mobile testing is a natural extension for Xamarin," said Nat Friedman, CEO and co-founder, Xamarin. "This is by far the biggest pain point for our entire developer community. We're excited to solve this problem for all mobile developers."

Xamarin has said that the Test Cloud software will be made available to developers who are working in Objective-C, Java and other frameworks. This solution will also be tightly wound into the Xamarin development platform, meaning there will be plenty of support for developers who are using the Xamarin Test Cloud.
