Carta Worldwide Reveals NFC Mobile Handset Production Service

Carta Worldwide, an international provider of electronic payments and transaction processing technology, announced last week that it has initiated a production service that delivers a comprehensive, cost-effective live Near-Field Communication (NFC) enabled handset solution.

The product, which has been referred to as “NFC in a box,” provides corporate clients with a full package of live NFC mobile payments products that includes an NFC enabled smartphone, NFC profile provisioned to the SIM card, wallet/user interface (UI) application, live MasterCard virtual card provisioned to device for live transactions, and product management and support suit.

"Carta's products and services are flexible and innovative, and this initiative highlights that well. The value is that Carta can deliver very quickly - from one to 1,000 - one-off NFC-enabled phones at a very low cost compared to a full commercial development project, which can cost many millions of dollars before demonstrations even see the light of day,” said, Brian Semkiw, CEO of Carta, said in statement. "It's really about giving banks and Mobile Network Operators the tools to trial this exciting new payment technology.”

Semkiw also added that the initiative provides clients with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of "the complete end-to-end NFC mobile payment environment and the real-world user experience, allowing for a better understanding of the many variables involved in the complex NFC ecosystem," prior to the implementation of a full commercial program.

Carta Worldwide specializes in prepaid, mobile and emerging payments. Carta’s next-generation platform is specifically architected to meet the complexities of the evolving payments environment and delivers end-to-end solutions that manage risk, enhance accuracy, and optimize profitability.
