BLU Announces Three New Smartphones

BLU Products, a mobile phone manufacturer, has announced a new addition to their line of Studio Series smartphones. The most notable feature of these phones is their screen size. The 5” screen has gained a lot of popularity in the past few years due to the phones such as the Galaxy Note, and BLU plans on continuing this trend with their own product line.

"We've gotten to a point where, for a large part of our customer base, nothing short of a 5.0-inch screen is acceptable – it's becoming the mainstream," said Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of BLU Products. "Still, these devices haven't been affordable. It's embarrassing to see the tiny, low resolution displays that traditional manufacturers are offering at entry level price points. It's been a major turnoff for consumers looking to upgrade to a smartphone, sometimes for the first time. We believe the Studio Series will accelerate smartphone adoption in prepaid markets in the US and Latin America by offering the best possible value and user experience available in the market today."

The phones that are being introduced are the Studio 5.0, the Studio 5.0S, and the Studio 5.3S which will all feature Dual-SIM capability and be powered by Android Jelly Bean 4.1. The Studio 5.0 will be powered by a MediaTek MT6577 Dual-Core 1 GHz Cortex A9 CPU and will feature a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, a VGA frontal camera, 4GB of upgradeable internal memory, and 512MB of RAM. The device will start at $149.00.

The S line phones will each sport a Qualcomm S4 Play Quad-Core 1.2 GHz CPU and feature an 8MP autofocus camera, a 2MP frontal camera, 4GB of upgradeable internal memory, and 1GB of RAM. These phones will also have other features such as IPS (In Plane Switching), which allows the user to view an onscreen image from any viewing angle without sacrificing color intensity or clarity. The Studio 5.0S will start at $209.00 and the Studio 5.3S will start at $229.00.
