Identive Adds a Family of Next-Generation Contact Smart Card Readers

As next generation contact readers start coming online, they have to provide a security platform that will assure consumers and business their data will be protected when they are being used. Cloud computing and mobile technology is moving to the forefront, with many applications including payment systems, identification and other financial solutions.

The Identive Group has launched the new generation of contact reader, the CLOUD 2700, which supports cyber security, Web and cloud-based authentication, cashless payment and other applications for secure environments.

Identive also provides technology to address markets for managing identity, access control, NFC solutions and RFID enabled applications. The software, hardware, systems and services it provides are used by customers in education, enterprise, government and healthcare.

The CLOUD 2700 uses Identive's reader platform to increase performance, security and the time it takes to conduct a transaction. It is compliant with the ISO7816 standard, giving it the capability to work with any contact smart card. It works with all major operating systems, and the EMV level 1 GSA FIPS 201 certification makes it a reliable tool for financial transactions and highly secure government environments.

Some of the specifications of the CLOUD 2700 include:

  • Host Interface - USB 2.0 CCID (USB 1.1 / 3.0 compliant)
  • Communication Speed -12 Mbps (USB2.0 full speed)
  • Supported standards - ISO/IEC 7816 Part 1 to 4 and EMV 2008 Ver 4.2 Level 1
  • Interface speed - up to 600 kBit/s (depending on card) TA1=97
  • Supported smart card types - 5V, 3V and 1.8V, ISO/IEC 7816 Class A/B/C
  • Driver & Software - PC/SC driver, PC/SC Specification Ver. 2.01.09 for Windows XP/Vista/7/8 (32&64Bit) / Windows Server 2003/2008/2008 R2/2012 / Windows CE 6.0, 7.0; MacOS 10.5.x, 10.6.x, 10.7.x, 10.8.x; and Linux 2.4.x, 2.6.x (32&64Bit)
