Mobile Devices Have a Security Option for Safe Internet

Security on the Internet is a serious issue. There is no one way to handle it and, even still, those that wish to do harm to you or your computer are constantly seeking ways to circumvent any security measure. As mobile banking explodes and more users are taking advantage of it, criminals will look to mobile devices in order to gain access to users’ data such as banking records. AnchorFree's Hotspot Shield VPN App has hit 10 billion downloads and provides a valuable service to mobile users.

Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a means to secure Internet traffic. Corporations use it regularly to secure communications with mobile workers while they connect to company e-mail and data servers. In this case it would secure a standard user’s Internet connection, protecting them from would-be hackers. AnchorFree launched Hotspot Shield for iOS in November 2011, extending its popular security, privacy and open Web access solution to mobile devices so far in 2013. Hotspot Shield is a free app that creates a VPN for mobile users and can compress data, saving valuable data on limited plans.

"We have a lot of growth ahead of us," said AnchorFree founder and CEO David Gorodyansky. "The popularity of Hotspot Shield is testament to the increasing awareness among users that they need to protect themselves on mobile devices from a growing storm of cyber security and privacy threats. We are more passionate than ever about our mission of enabling secure access to the world's information for an addressable market of five billion users."

Threats to mobile devices are still in their infancy, but that does not mean it will never happen – it’s only a matter of time. Understanding the threats and how best to protect yourself is the only real option. It is also important to understand that there is no one safe application that will forever protect you. There is only what is safer than what you are doing now.
