Experiencias Xcaret Deploys Alvarion's Wi-Fi Solution in its Cancun Theme Parks

Experiencias Xcaret recently implemented a carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution from optimized wireless broadband solutions provider Alvarion within its three Cancun theme parks in order to provide vacationers with a more memorable experience and to help the park management company run its internal operations more smoothly.

Through the deployment of Alvarion's solution, Experiencias can support high-capacity and reliable Wi-Fi services for up to 3,000 daily visitors to Xcaret Park, Xel-Ha Park and Park Xplor. The parks are now equipped with high-definition digital cameras that take photos of visitors on rides and adventures where they can't use their own cameras. These pictures are automatically transmitted to a central database that can be purchased at special kiosks throughout the parks. Alvarion's network will also aid in the park's internal applications, including its point of sale terminals at restaurants and CRM platforms that are accessible from park staff's mobile devices.

Alvarion's solution uses spatially adaptive Beamforming technology and powerful interference mitigation algorithms to offer users optimal connectivity, extended range, increased capacity, indoor penetration and uniform coverage. Due to the fact that few access points need to be deployed, users can save money with reduced installation costs and lower capital and operational expenditures.

"The Wi-Fi network we required posed many challenges to the solution provider -- the need for high capacity given the high volume of visitors and large outdoor areas, challenging Non-Line-of-Sight conditions and the dense forest in the parks which absorb the signal," Juan Jose Luis Cisneros Lopez, chief information officer for Experiencias Xcaret, said in a statement. "We tested solutions from various vendors and only Alvarion's carrier-grade Wi-Fi solution met our needs. The network allows us to deliver a superior customer experience, while at the same time enables us to run a more efficient operation."

Experiencias Xcaret plans to deploy Alvarion's Wi-Fi solution at its upcoming Xenotes theme park.
