Vuclip announced this week that it has reached more than 80 million monthly unique mobile users worldwide, which is a feat for an independent mobile video and media company. These numbers just continue to back up the notion that video and media technology is continuing to grow with users and isn’t slowing down any time soon.
For a company that has only been around for about five years, Vuclip has made a name for itself. The company allows users to search for and watch Web videos, similar to that of YouTube.
The company, which is headquartered in California, has partnerships with various carriers around the world. Big mobile companies -- such as Vodafone, Maxis Communications and XL Axiata -- allow the company to offer its consumers the ability to play content on any video-enabled device.
In the past five years, Vuclip has allowed users to watch over two billion videos, with that number increasing on a daily basis. In a recent press release, Vuclip said it believes its popularity is due to the “wide range of global, regional and premium videos” it delivers through a non-buffering experience.
"Our users tell us that they greatly appreciate our rich content and amazing viewing experience and there's no better compliment than the fact that they are introducing us to many of their friends and family. We want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our loyal users," said Nickhil Jakatdar, CEO of Vuclip.
"We're seeing this heightened engagement positively reinforce the Vuclip mobile media ecosystem of consumers, content providers, device manufacturers, carriers and brands. We take pride and responsibility in developing and rapidly growing this next generation media industry."
Currently, Vuclip offers over 700 channels of premium content (something we have begun to see more of on YouTube), optimization for over 500 Android devices, and plays on average 1.5 billion minutes of mobile video on a monthly basis.
