AirPatrol Upgrades ZoneDefense to Support 4G LTE Cellular Frequencies

AirPatrol Corporation recently announced that ZoneDefense, the company’s proprietary mobile device detecting and location positioning application, is now upgraded to support mobile devices functioning on 4G LTE cellular network frequencies. The new release allows ZoneDefense to tap the LTE space, which is expected to grow at a stupendous rate to cover 70 percent of the wireless devices in the market over the next four years.

“Eighty-five percent of all people are carrying a mobile phone and based on our site surveys nearly all of them are either connected exclusively to a cellular network or to a cellular and a Wi-Fi network simultaneously,” said Guy Levy-Yurista of AirPatrol. “Either way, for organizations that want to know what devices are moving around in their facilities, monitoring a Wi-Fi network alone means you only see a small portion of what’s really there. You have to be able to detect devices linked to cellular networks as well. And in this day and age, that means 4G LTE networks as well as the older 3G and 2G networks.”

ZoneDefense is widely used by organizations and public offices to monitor potential threats to security caused by wireless devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops. ZoneDefense is the first mobile security platform integrated with location-awareness capability to monitor, detect and manage wireless devices on cellular and Wi-Fi networks simultaneously. The application was first deployed for federal government and military installations but soon gained wide acceptance in the commercial market due to its significantly high positional accuracy as compared to its competitors.

By deploying ZoneDefense in an organization’s mobile device management or security network, it enables the organization to detect electronic devices in its premises irrespective of whether the device is connected on the public 2G/3G network, LTE network or the organization’s secured Wi-Fi. Based on this information, the activity of the device can be monitored and verified against the preset rules applicable to the specific zone by selectively enforcing only relevant policies.

AirPatrol is a leading developer of mobile device detection and location positioning applications with customers spanning multinational organizations, government facilities and military organizations across the world.
