Magisto Video App Now Preloaded on Japanese Smartphones

The Magisto automated video editing app now will come preloaded on Arrows A 202F Fujitsu smartphones, thanks to a partnership between the app developer and SoftBank Mobile, a Japanese mobile carrier.

The Magisto app enables smartphone users to create and share personal movies. According to the company, the app automatically selects the most compelling moments and weaves them together with customized styles and music. Users upload their videos, choose a title and soundtrack, and Magisto does the rest.

“We believe Japanese consumers will help lead the way in realizing the potential of mobile video as a mode of interpersonal communication,” said Oren Boiman, CEO of Magisto. “Our collaboration with SoftBank Mobile and Fujitsu provides a powerful platform to enable mass adoption of produced personal video.”

The advantage of the Magisto app is it makes it easy to edit video quickly. Magisto can recognize faces, animals, landscapes, movements, action sequences and other interesting content and then use this information to put together a video story that can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and e-mail.

The company calls its proprietary artificial intelligence algorithm Emotion Sense Technology (EST), which is able to generate an understanding of what’s actually going on inside the video footage and photos uploaded by the user, determine which sections of that footage will best tell a story, and then stitch them together with transitions and effects.

The Magisto app was released in Japanese on iOS and Android earlier this year. The Arrows A 202F smartphone debuted on June 28, 2013, in Japan.

Magisto launched its iOS app in French, Spanish, German and Italian this week, and is also in the process of adding Chinese, Korean, Russian, Turkish and Arabic. The company also has an application for desktop PCs.
