ComScore is an American Internet analytics company. It provides marketing data and analytics to many of the world's largest enterprises, agencies and publishers. It is also a leader in measuring the digital world. On Jan. 6, it shared its data from comScore MobiLens and Mobile Metrix.
ComScore MobiLens is designed to provide a view of the U.S., European, Japanese and Canadian mobile media landscapes. MobiLens does this by connecting data on mobile consumer demographics and behavior with device capabilities.
ComScore Mobile Metrix brings unified digital measurement to smartphone devices. It accomplishes this by combining on-device metering with census-level data. By doing this, it provides advertisers, agencies, publishers and app developers with exclusive access to U.S. usage statistics across apps and the mobile web.
The above mentioned data reports key trends in the U.S. smartphone industry for a three month period ending November 2013. The figures show that Apple was ranked as the top smartphone manufacturer. It had a 41.2 percent OEM market share.
On the operating system side of things, we see that Google Android is still the leader with its smartphone platform. We are seeing figures from 50.3 to 51.9 percent of the smartphone OS market share. The report also shows that Google Sites ranked as the top mobile media property, while Facebook was the top individual app.
The following chart shows a breakdown of the smartphone OEM market share. We can see that Apple has a commanding lead. We can also see from this chart that Motorola, LG and HTC each lost some ground:
