The integration of smart mobile devices in corporate networks is providing organizations with more opportunities for maximizing output by their workforce. As bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives continue to increase in adoption, the one drawback for small companies will be the expense for wireless services. With mobile data making up a large portion of the communication between employees and their companies, service providers are introducing solutions specifically designed for this sector. DataXoom, a company specializing in providing mobile data services for businesses and the mobile workforce, has announced it has signed an agreement with Sprint to provide it with wholesale mobile data services.
DataXoom is going to be leveraging Sprint's high-speed 4G LTE mobile data capability at 2.5 GHz with 50-60 Megabits per second (Mbps) peak speeds to provide mid- to large-sized enterprise customers cost-effective, no-contract mobile data services.
The DataXoom management platform is able to connect tablets, mobile hotspots, and specialty devices by allowing administrators more control and visibility of the mobile devices of the employees and their data usage. With a single web interface, administrators will be able to manage users across many different wireless networks and verify user authentication, content control, data limits and alerts. This includes the ability to block sites that have high-bandwidth such as video streaming services. Additionally the company only charges for the amount of data the customer uses, a very significant cost saving measure.
"Sprint's network is an ideal solution for the tablets and mobile hotspots used by DataXoom's enterprise customers. We are especially excited about Sprint's 2.5 GHz 4G LTE, which will dramatically improve the performance of Sprint's 4G LTE network and will meet the high expectations of enterprises," said DataXoom CEO John Tantum.
The service has been launched with select customers, and it will be available nationwide in February 2014. It will be available without contracts and termination penalties; mobile data costs can be discounted by 50 percent or more for many applications within a business; and existing as well as new or refurbished devices from DataXoom can be used.
DataXoom supports:
- The latest in 4G LTE and 3G tablets
- USB modems, as well as most data-only devices
- 3G/4G Mobile Hotspots, USB modems

"DataXoom's exclusive focus on mobile data for enterprises is a great fit with Sprint's wholesale approach, where we enable our customers to deliver value to their target customer segment. With Sprint 4G LTE, DataXoom is empowered to deliver superior services to its customers," said Karen Freitag, vice president - Global Sales at Sprint.
