Ingram Micro Mobility to Distribute Samsung Accessories in the US

The smartphone market is dominated by Apple and Samsung, with the former controlling the high-end sector. While Samsung is number one globally, the last quarter saw the company falling further behind, resulting in the first quarterly loss for the company in two years. In order to make its products available more readily, Samsung entered into an agreement with Ingram Micro, the world's largest wholesale technology distributor and a global leader in IT supply-chain and mobile device lifecycle services, to distribute its mobile smartphone and tablet accessory products in the United States.

This agreement is a continuation of a previous arrangement between the two companies. By leveraging the global resources of Ingram Micro, Samsung will be assured its accessories will be available where ever their mobile devices are sold.

The benefit of using Ingram Micro is the company has its own marketing programs, outsourced logistics and mobile solutions, technical support, financial services, and product aggregation and distribution. Although the agreement is for the US, the company nonetheless serves close to 160 countries on six continents, with a comprehensive line of IT products and services.

The warehousing capability of Ingram Micro is an additional asset, because it will ensure Samsung accessories will always be stocked and made readily available. This includes the growing accessory portfolio for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab family of products such as Bluetooth headsets,  flip and protective covers, portable battery packs, and travel and vehicle chargers.

Ingram Micro Mobility provides device lifecycle services with complete lifecycle capability including wireless device repair, refurbishment and recycling services. The comprehensive solutions it provides manufacturers, operators, retailers, online and B2B resellers means businesses are able to grow by focusing on their core competencies.

The combined portfolio services of Ingram Micro Mobility include:

  • Mobility
  • Cloud Services
  • Data Capture/POS
  • Logistics
  • Enterprise Technology
  • Technology Distribution

"Being selected as a key distributor of mobile accessories will allow us to expand sales outlets for Samsung to ensure accessories are available when and where consumers want to buy them. Samsung Mobile is poised to grow its leadership position within the multi-billion dollar mobile-accessory market," said Tim Acker, Senior Director and General Manager, Mobility Accessories Division, Ingram Micro Mobility North America.
