Tarana Wireless' AbsoluteAir joins Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem

AbsoluteAir products from universal wireless transport solutions developer Tarana Wireless have been added to the Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem.

The addition of Tarana's products to Cisco will offer service providers access to a wireless backhaul solution for small cells that can operate at full capacity regardless if wireless links are completely obstructed by solid structures like buildings, overpasses and even vehicles.

The AbsoluteAir product line allows providers to deploy back haul anywhere small cells are located and has a low total cost of ownership, in addition to ubiquitous coverage, capacity and scalability, and zero-touch provisioning and operation.

AbsoluteAir can be deployed across non-line of sight and line-of-sight operation and was created based on an unique Concentrating Multipoint architecture, which delivers a full 75 Mbps backhand capacity to each small cell and gives the number of links the ability to scale in relation to the demand of data without reducing the per-link bandwidth.

The Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem consists of products that have been tested for interoperability with the Cisco ASR 901S Series Aggregation Services Routers, which helps mobile operators avoid difficulties and high costs when implementing a small cell infrastructure.

Cisco incorporates many features including a broad spectrum of frequency coverage, the ability to deliver gigabits of data per small cell, flexibility in bandwidth and coverage, predicative and reliable performance, synchronization support, real-time adaptive control, low delay and delay variation, network virtualization, end-to-end quality of service, and easily deployable.

According to a press release, Cisco's vice president of product management Ed Chang said that teaming up with Tarana Wireless will strengthen his company's "ability to deliver a proven end-to-end wireless back haul solution to [their] service provider customers."

It will also be beneficial to Tarana, as well.

"We are pleased to have been selected to join the Cisco Small Cell Wireless Backhaul Ecosystem," Steve Sifferman, president and CEO of Tarana Wireless, said in statement. "Our strong relationship with Cisco is additional validation of our technological leadership, and our Cisco collaboration will further enable Tarana to address global product demand."
