AirWatch Announces Same-day Support for iOS 7.1, Apple Device Enrollment Program

Organizations are integrating mobile devices in the corporate network as part of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) initiatives, or volume corporate purchases to supply the entire workforce. Whichever option the company takes, it is essential to have the right mobile device management (MDM) solution to protect the organization's network and personal information of the employees. Whether the platform is Android, BlackBerry or iOS, the MDM or enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider has to have a clear understanding of each system in order to prevent any security breaches. AirWatch by VMware, a globally recognized EMM provider, has announced it now offers comprehensive, same-day support for iOS 7.1 and the Apple Device Enrollment Program.

This new platform provides complete mobility management solutions for Apple iOS with same-day support giving IT administrators more options for the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Mac devices.

This includes:

  • Activation Lock – so devices can be supervised to improve security. If the device is owned by the organization it is now possible to remove the activation blocks without the user's personal Apple ID and password with an AirWatch command.
  • Device Enrollment Program (DEP) – to authenticate the corporate AD/LDAP credentials during the DEP Setup Assistant process on the device.
  • Apple Configurator Integration – IT administrators will be able to deploy and manage large number of Apple iOS devices by integrating AirWatch with Apple Configurator so they can prepare, supervise and assign devices from the admin console.
  • Security –administrators can customize authentication checkpoints on applications, content and self-service portal with air watch to protect corporate data by restricting iOS device features and settings, such as iMessage, Siri, fingerprint scan and Passbook. This includes advanced user authentication.

A key feature available with AirWatch is containerization, which allows complete separation between personal and corporate data on the device, ensuring the protection of each asset on the same device. This includes using AirWatch SDKs to create containers or App Wrapping to provide users with single sign-on (SSO) capabilities with AirWatch Email Client, AirWatch Secure Content Locker and AirWatch Browser integrate in AirWatch Workspace.

The containerization also applies to browsing with AirWatch Browser so administrators can define and enforce customized routing policies so they can deny access to sites that can potentially harm the corporate network.
