Mobile engagement solutions company Hipcricket is now working to engage birders who shop at Central Garden and Pet. By developing a website specific to Pennington Wild Bird products, Hipcricket has made it possible for bird enthusiasts to become better informed about the products they might purchase at a Central Garden and Pet location.
Hipcricket has added SMS and QR codes throughout stores that link to the Pennington Wild Bird website. Once interested customers follow such links on their smartphones, the codes will provide them with more information about specific products, including which feeds to use to attract various types of birds. The Pennington mobile site further serves readers by listing additional information about its products, possibly leading birders to try new products.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology reportedly helped Hipcricket develop the website by giving them details about birding information that they otherwise would not have known. Doug Stovall, COO of Hipcricket, spoke about the way this technology may impact Central Garden and Pet customers.
"For Hipcricket, mobile marketing is about providing real value to your customers in a way that is interactive and engaging," Stovall said. "What we've done for Central Garden & Pet is to mobilize the most important information its customers care about, namely what products they need to buy and what species they are viewing."
HIpcricket is perhaps best known for AD LIFE, a mobile site builder and analytics platform that supports thousands of device types and multiple screen sizes. It helps businesses quickly create mobile sites and capture data about users that helps businesses, in turn, provide personalized experiences on users' return visits. Effective mobile sites can move businesses into the path of smartphone and tablet users who, Cisco reports, grew 81 percent in 2013 from the previous year, a number that may continue to grow as the number of mobile devices in the world trends upward.
