Rohde & Schwarz Reveals New HD+ Test Suite

German electronics company Rohde & Schwarz has announced HD+ test suite integration for its broadcast test center (BTC), a reference signal generator, for greater test and measurement (T&M) efficiency.

The test suites have been developed by SES Platform Services and provide a means for companies to test for compliance and self-certification. Rohde & Schwarz is calling it a “single measuring instrument” for multiple applications. HD+ is a subsidiary of SES.

“The solution covers all functions of the HD+ specifications, allowing HD+ consumer electronics to be fully tested,” regardless of location and even without availability of a satellite signal, says the company in a statement.

According to Rohde & Schwarz, the single tool will be less time consuming for people to use with test solutions no longer needing to be created from different sources. “The R&S BTC and the HD+ test suites allow manufacturers to minimize test times and costs, ensuring a good end user experience for their customers,” the company explained, espousing its benefits.

Rohde & Schwarz is an electronics company that has been in operation for more than 80 years and is currently headquartered in Munich, Germany. It operates in a number of different product areas including radio and wireless technologies, broadcasting and studio services, radiolocation, and even secure communication for armed forces and government bodies.

The company also made headlines in April for joining the M2M Alliance for machine-to-machine and the Internet of Things industries, committing itself to great expansion in these fields. The company has cited mobile and wireless technologies as key to future success and a reason for the joining the alliance.

Meanwhile SES, who has developed the new BTC for Rohde & Schwarz, is one of Europe’s largest satellite operators with 56 active satellites as well as several broadcast centers.
