Sierra Wireless Announces New 4G Gateways

Late last week, Sierra Wireless announced it has launched a brand new next generation mobile gateway that has been put under the umbrella of the the Sierra Wireless AirLink gateways. Among the products just launched are the AirLink GX450 4G mobile gateway and the AirLink ES450 4G enterprise gateway. Both of these devices offer up support for a much broader line of LTE frequency bands. That change in these new devices means they will be more compatible with 4G networks the world over.

“With the launch of our next-generation AirLink gateways, customers can purchase a single solution for deployment across many different regions, simplifying procurement and management. It also allows the customer to leverage the growing capacity of LTE networks as they evolve and incorporate different frequency bands to carry increasing traffic,” said Emmanuel Walckenaer, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Solutions for Sierra Wireless in a  recent release detailing the new products.

The AirLink GX450 4G mobile gateway is one built to be a plenty rugged mobile gateway that gives users broadband connectivity for just about any device one can think of as long as they are deployed in a vehicle. The functionality of this particular gateway also allows for those mobile devices to be easily monitored and managed on the go.

On the flip side, the Sierra Wireless AirLink ES450 4G enterprise gateway gives users the ability to quickly and easily access business transactions while also deploying PCI compliant systems. This particular gateway has the ability to support an automatic switchover of transaction processing from a landline connection to a wireless one. The gateway also notifies IT personnel when failures occur and it then allows those IT personnel to carry out remote troubleshooting in order to restore normal operations. This gateway is going to be offered in North America, Australia and Asia as well as Europe.
