Bandwidth and BlueLight Partner for New Campus Safety App

The growing use of smartphone safety apps is helping students reduce their risk of violent or sexual assaults on campus. Typically, students always have their smartphones in hand downloading safety apps gives students access to help at their fingertips.

Statistics show that 1 in every 22 college students will experience a crime while attending school- and that is why campus safety is of utmost importance to universities and attending students. Technology has provided new safety features for campuses across the nation to take advantage of.

Bandwidth and BlueLight have teamed up to create safer campuses. BlueLight is trying to change campus safety technology, and has chosen the Bandwidth App Platform to create efficient call routing through a direct-to-carder voice and messing API platform.

Not only does the new application provide users contact with authorities with the push of a button, but there is a GPS locator in the application that lets emergency personnel know your exact whereabouts.

“Bandwidth’s carrier network and API platform gives us unique access to resources that we depend on to grow our business,” said Preet Anand, BlueLight CEO & Founder. “As thousands of people depend on us for their safety, we have found a unique voice and messaging API platform provider in Bandwidth that we can depend on. We are looking forward to continue our partnership into a new stage of growth for our business.”

BlueLight has expanded greatly since it moved to Bandwidth. It has moved to 80 campuses nationwide, and has been requested at 450 new campuses.

Bandwidth EVP and General Manger expresses his excitement to be working on the application with BlueLight. “We love working with applications like BlueLight, who have seen a clear market opportunity and improved an age old model for public safety,” said Steve Leonard, EVP and General Manager at Bandwidth. “We are proud to provide them with the resources and support to strengthen their position in the public safety market, and we welcome the opportunity to help BlueLight expand its business to hundreds of additional campuses across the country.”
