Panasonic Toughbook and Toughpad Enterprise Users Benefit from NetMotion Wireless Partnership

Today we live in a generation of always having to be connected to everything all the time. It is amazing how technology can change a way of life in one’s own lifetime. When a technician went out on a service call, or an employee went to a client for a meeting, the only way to relate the information back to the main office was through a landline phone, or waiting until you returned to the office.

There are almost as many mobile subscriptions today as there are people in the world, which now make mobile devices a part of corporate life, regardless of whether they are company supplied, or brought by users who brings their own device (BYOD). This creates the need to have reliable access to the office, while complying with corporate security policies.

Early this morning, NetMotion Wireless and Panasonic announced that after running successfully in Europe for eight months, they are extending the availability of the NetMotion Mobility and Diagnostics software bundle for Panasonic Toughbook and Toughpad tablet devices to the U.S. and Latin America markets.

In January of this year, Panasonic announced that it was entering into a partnership with NetMotion Wireless to improve productivity for enterprise mobile workers by offering better connectivity and security for Toughbook and Toughpad users. This was accomplished through NetMotion’s Mobility and Locality software.

NetMotion Wireless is a leading provider of next generation mobile security and mobile network performance management solutions. The company’s products are meant to address the unique challenges that are constantly being created by a mobile workforce. Thousands of enterprises around the world are using NetMotion products to keep millions of mobile workers connected to applications.

Now that the workforce is mobile, the need is to stay connected otherwise they will have to find that elusive landline to call the office. NetMotion Mobility is the company’s connectivity software solution designed for improving productivity, security and control of a mobile workforce.

NetMotion Mobility can dynamically maintain access to applications through changing network conditions, allowing mobile workers to remain productive regardless of where their work takes them. The combination of what is considered to be the global leader for rugged mobile computing, Panasonic’s Toughbook and Toughpad devices, with a solution that can maintain connectivity over varying conditions is a perfect match.

Vice president of B2B enterprise and global sales at Panasonic System Communications Company of North America (PSCNA), Mike McMahon made the following comments, “Users rely on Panasonic Toughbook and Toughpad tablet devices to get their work done even in extreme environments. But harsh conditions can play havoc with mobile network access. NetMotion’s Mobility and Diagnostics products offer the protection our mobile users need to stay securely connected to mission-critical corporate applications and data.”

The ruggedness of Toughbook and Toughpad devices make them the type of devices that field workers want whether they are inspecting a boiler in a basement or checking a pipeline outside. You need a device that can withstand the punishment that we put most equipment through, but it is only as useful as its connection.

It is with that in mind that Erik Helms, NetMotion Wireless’ vice president of strategic alliances & international sales said, “Toughbook laptops and Toughpad tablets have become the cornerstone of so many mobile deployments because of their unmatched durability and performance. Mobility and Diagnostics software give Toughbook and Toughpad users a secure, strong and reliable mobile connection to match their devices’ ‘go anywhere’ reputation.”
