According to a recent announcement, web real-time communications (WebRTC) company Temasys has leveraged its embedded real-time communication platform to provide the communication capabilities within the new social fitness app, Weqool.
Weqool, which recently launched, is designed to allow users to meet, communicate, compete and grow friendships while exercising together virtually. Weqool joins users together based on their shared interests and activities in an interactive environment, enabling them to watch recorded workouts created by professional fitness trainers. The app facilitates positive social interactions to motivate one another through the real-time video chat feature, provided by Temasys.
Temasys' partner, Blacc Spot Media, a WebRTC, mobile and web application development house, worked with Weqool to develop the web-based app, bringing the vision of creating a socially immersive, virtual fitness experience to life.
"We are passionate about WebRTC, as we believe smart communication empowers both businesses and people to effectively communicate in new and innovative ways," said Lantre Barr, Founder & CEO, Blacc Spot Media. "We chose Temasys' platform due to its scalability, ease of implementation and complete range of features, including WebRTC enabled video chat, which is a major differentiating feature of the Weqool app."
Weqool is unique in that it creates a virtual workout experience while providing many of the same benefits of onsite sessions. The app allows people to connect socially while exercising, fostering relationship development, accountability and motivation. It creates an environment that helps people become their best selves in the health and wellness space.
"I'm pleased that Blacc Spot Media can be in the forefront of extending efficient, streamlined communications to new industries providing more effective ways of solving problems through enhanced communications," said Barr.
