PerfectServe to Improve Clinical Communications at St. Joseph's Medical Center

Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) system, which has 40 hospitals as part of its association, announced that it has selected PerfectServe’s clinical communications system to improve the patient care coordination at St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

CHW is one of the largest hospital systems in California and the eighth largest health system in the nation. This project will allow PerfectServe to deploy its healthcare coordination service in the 40 hospitals in the CHW system. PerfectServe will provide voice, mobile, and Web-based clinical communications solutions for St. Joseph’s Medical Center which is a member of the CHW hospital system.

In a release, St. Joseph’s Medical Center’s President Don Wiley said, “We’re excited about PerfectServe’s ability to give our doctors more control over the communications they receive, improving their satisfaction with our facility. We expect that PerfectServe will free our nurses from the time consuming processes we’ve been using to reach doctors, giving them more time with patients.”

Once the project is implemented, all the staff at St. Joseph Medical Center will have a single network platform. All of PerfectServe’s solutions will have a one-number voice search, Web and mobile app interfaces. The mobile app is built for both iPhone and Android platforms.

St. Joseph Medical Hospital’s VP of medical affairs Dr. Susan McDonald said, “We hope PerfectServe will make communication between nurses and physicians and between physicians more efficient. Nurses estimate they spend up to two hours of their time each shift trying to contact physicians. This results in delays in communication, not to mention wasted time.”

St. Joseph Medical Center will improve vastly in their clinical practice due to PerfectServe solution implementation, according to CHW officials, as there will be fewer communication errors, breakdowns, and delays. All the clinicians will not be overly hassled and all the clinical calls and messages will start flowing in a workflow and more accurately. All the individual preferences and call schedules of all the physicians are built into the PerfectServe network that will be implemented at St. Joseph Medical Center.
